ABOUT PORCELAIN VENEERS

A porcelain veneer is a custom-made cover for your tooth that is so thin it is almost transparent. To create them, we will make a mold of your tooth and structure the material based on your personal fit.

Porcelain veneers are used most often in instances when:

  • A tooth is cracked or chipped
  • A tooth is crooked or has an irregular shape
  • There are spaces between your teeth
  • Discoloration or stains cannot be removed
  • Your teeth are too sensitive for whitening processes

REASONS YOU SHOULD GET PORCELAIN VENEERS

There are a number of compelling reasons why you should get the best veneers in Scottsdale. Here are some of them.

You’ll have whiter, natural-looking teeth

While teeth-whitening procedures may give you the whiter teeth you’ve been longing for, keep in mind that these treatments don’t last that long. Porcelain veneers, on the other hand, can give you more permanent whiter teeth as long as you properly care for them. They also resist stains and blend perfectly with your natural, existing teeth.

You can fix misshapen or crooked teeth

For the longest time, the only go-to treatments for those with crooked or misshapen teeth are orthodontic ones. Today, you can opt for porcelain veneers. Since they are bonded to the surfaces of your teeth, porcelain veneers can effectively fix your teeth that are crooked and misshapen, dramatically improving the way your teeth look and giving you a prettier smile.

Veneers are quick and easy

Other treatments designed to improve your smile take years, even years, to generate your desired results. With porcelain veneers, a visit or two to the dentist can get you the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted, and a permanent one at that

Keep chips, cracks, or breaks from view

If you’re embarrassed by the chips, cracks, or breaks in your teeth, porcelain veneers can do a great job of hiding them. Also, porcelain veneers can help prevent any further damage to your teeth. They can even fix chewing, or speech issues brought about by broken teeth.

Close gaps between your teeth

Whether they’re because of genetics or because of a missing tooth or two, gaps between your teeth presents some problems. Aside from being unsightly, gaps between your teeth increase the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. For some, there may even be some speech issues involved. Porcelain veneers can cover any gap effectively. As long as they are specifically designed and shaped to your natural teeth, porcelain veneers can make those gaps effectively disappear from sight, leaving you with a much-improved smile, among other things.

Improve your bite

There are teeth straightening treatments that will help improve your bite, and there are porcelain veneers that can do the same thing, with faster results. Porcelain veneers can help your teeth align properly, which will significantly improve not only the appearance of your teeth but also their form and function.

Porcelain veneers cause no pain or discomfort

One thing about orthodontic treatments is they involve a certain degree of discomfort or even pain.  There is nothing of the sort when you get porcelain veneers. Placing the veneers is a simple procedure that our dentists can perform quickly and painlessly. No anesthetics are needed if you get porcelain veneers.

Porcelain veneers last long

The best veneers Scottsdale has to offer last about a decade on average, but its lifespan could increase significantly, as dental porcelain gets stronger and more durable over the years. And while they can be susceptible to damage, proper care should help you make it last so much longer.

PORCELAIN VENEER PLACEMENT PROCEDURE

Normally, placing porcelain veneers takes one appointment if the veneer is prefabricated, and two if it still has to be crafted in a laboratory, where the veneer will be created based on an impression of your tooth.

Before placing the veneer, the dentist will clean the tooth and remove a tiny amount of the tooth’s enamel to make sure the veneer fits perfectly. The correct shade for the veneer will also be determined at this stage of the process. Unless you’re particularly sensitive, the preparation phase doesn’t usually require local anesthesia.

Once your porcelain veneer arrives from the laboratory, the dentist will clean your tooth with pumice and water. The veneer itself will go through an etching, water rinsing, and air-drying process. A special cement is applied to the veneer before it’s placed on your tooth. The veneer will then be light cured for 60 seconds to activate the chemicals in the cement and make it harden more quickly. Any excess material will be removed, and the margins of the veneer will be polished.

DAILY CARE

Your custom-made porcelain veneers will be bonded permanently to the outside of your tooth and can be cared for just as easily as it is to care for your natural teeth. They can be brushed and flossed regularly, just like the rest of your teeth! It is possible that Scottsdale veneers made from porcelain will be a great solution for you.
